About us

Founded in 2023, our social enterprise began as an exploration of Sarawak’s crafts, heritage, and traditional knowledge. We started by working closely with local artisans to co-organise craft workshops, with the aim of sustaining the skills and stories that shape our cultural identity.

As we grew more rooted in the community, a deeper issue came to light—the growing number of older adults in urban areas who were still struggling to make ends meet. It reflected a wider challenge: an ageing population at risk of financial insecurity in later life. This realisation prompted us to expand our mission—not only to preserve traditional crafts, but also to empower older adults through skills training, income opportunities, and meaningful ways to share their knowledge with others.

Though we’re still in the early stages with plenty of room to grow, our commitment remains unwavering. We’re focused on improving the quality of life for older adults while ensuring that Sarawak’s cultural heritage not only survives—but continues to thrive for generations to come.

Vision

We envision a future where every elder in Sarawak lives with dignity, financial independence, and a renewed sense of purpose. Our aim is to become a leading social enterprise that not only uplifts older generations but also bridges the gap between young and old through the art of traditional crafts.

Mission

Our mission is to empower Sarawak’s ageing community by breathing new life into traditional crafts and creating sustainable economic opportunities. We strive to build a supportive space where senior artisans can thrive, sharing their skills, securing their livelihoods, and keeping our cultural heritage alive.

“We envision our enterprise becoming a model for social innovation, where the aging population is not just supported but celebrated for their contributions in our arts and craft industry.

The Team

We are Mandy, Jasmine and Leeking, the co-founders of Landik. We were course-mate in university and our friendship grew through assignments and working as a team.

The idea of Landik – making crafting accessible to all – come about when we visited a craft market in Kuching, Sarawak (Malaysia) and we realised that often time people go to such event as a buyer and not having any opportunity to learn how to make one, and that is creating a gap where the artisans now only consist of old generations and young people are lack of such skills and knowledge.

Learning that it is not rocket science to learn crafting, all we need is passion and patient, we decided to formed Landik as a platform to close then gap. Not only that we developed a craft community, we also developed products through leveraging the crafting skills and knowledge from our experienced artisans, merging with modern knowledge from the young generation to create an innovative product.

We started with one artisan whom we met through social media (Facebook) to collaborate and teach our pilot workshop participants how to bead. To date, we are working with 5 artisans and our program has benefited 320 participants to date (2025).

From sitting on shopping mall floors to starting a social enterprise

Our first encounter with a local Bidayuh lady who openly teaches us how to weave when she is having her booth gave us the inspiration to start Landik.

Landik Studio, a space to host craft workshops for the public

We opened our doors in March 2025 after two years of renting various spaces for workshops. The studio serves as a space for the community to gather and craft together.
